United Church of Christ - Annapolis, MD

The United Church of Christ of Annapolis is seeking a dynamic and creative part time Director of Music. Our church is located in the beautiful city of Annapolis. We are an Open & Affirming, Anti-racist, progressive congregation, working to explore what it means to be the beloved community as we recover from the pandemic. Music is central to our church’s identity and worship liturgy. We are interested in a versatile musician to further deepen our community’s sense of belonging. The music director would: select and coordinate music for worship, including pre- and postlude music, hymns, and other supplemental music in coordination with the minister, recruit and lead the Church Choir and any other ensembles he/she deems appropriate for worship and schedule and lead rehearsals as necessary. The Director of Music will provide organ, piano & choir director leadership in bringing a vital, grace-filled diverse music ministry and is responsible for the overall development, management, and growth of this ministry. St. Martin’s Evangelical Lutheran Church - Annapolis, MD

St. Martin’s is blessed with personnel, equipment and facility resources that support a
dynamic, inspirational, and enriching music ministry. A diverse set of music ministry activities is
available to congregation members and as outreach to a wider community through our YouTube services
and concert series. While congregational music ministry at St. Martin’s is focused primarily on traditional
worship, the ideal candidate will be comfortable with a variety of worship styles and musical
expressions.We currently have an adult choir, children’s choir, and bell choir.

We are proud of our recently renovated Möller organ. Information and a video of the organ are available
from the music page on the church website ( An additional music program is
offered by the St. Martin’s School (pre-K through grade 8), which operates independently but in
cooperation with the church.

The congregation is seeking an energetic, congenial and enthusiastic person (or persons) to serve as
organist and choir director who will continue to grow the music ministry program of the church, including
the concert series. Duties will include coordinating the music program, serving the congregation as
organist and accompanist, selecting music for worship in cooperation with the pastor, and directing all of
the choirs of the congregation. The ideal candidate is a skilled organist, pianist, and experienced choir
director who is familiar with, or is willing to learn, Lutheran liturgy and hymnody. Familiarity with audio-
visual technology would be advantageous. A baccalaureate degree in a field directly related to executing
the duties of the position and five years experience served in the music ministry of a congregation are
preferable. Alternatively, the candidate may possess a combination of formal education and directly
related music ministry experience of adequate breadth and duration.

The position is 30 hours a week. Salary will be negotiated based on experience.

St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church - Hagerstown, MD

St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hagerstown, MD is seeking a part-time Organist/Music Director/20 hours/week). This person works with the Pastor to choose music appropriate for each Sunday worship, including accompanying choirs, soloists and congregational hymn singing and preparation of preludes and postludes. This person will prepare for and accompany the regular weekly and any extra rehearsals for the Church Choir and other choirs, as needed, as well as additional services such as Christmas Eve, Lenten and Holy Week services and Worship Ministry concerts. Bachelor’s degree in music preferred, plus five years of serving on a church staff as organist/pianist/music director. Salary based on education and experience.
